HEIDI FINN

Broker/Owner
Moving to Denver in 2001, Heidi Finn has been selling Denver Real Estate for thirteen years, consistently earning honors for being in the top 5% of Denver Real Estate Professionals in the state of Colorado.
“I came to Denver after a throwing a dart at a map. I moved here from London, leaving a job with international equity firm to handle Public Relations for NASA’s Cassini-Huygens spacecraft currently orbiting Saturn. I was doing sales for Gulfstream, a private jet manufacturer, when I decided I was sick of a 27 hour commute between Sydney and London offices- I decided to plant some roots, change my career, and have been selling Denver real estate ever since!”

Heidi’s unique business model is to work with less Denver Buyers and Sellers in an average year than other top real estate agents in order to be able to give each and every person she works with as much personalized service as possible. Her knowledge of the Denver real estate market and her sales and marketing background has resulted in a solid track record of repeat business and many, many happy clients.

As seen on HGTV as Denver’s real estate expert on “Bang for Your Buck” series, and quoted in publications such as the Denver Post, Rocky Mountain News, 5280 Magazine, Architectural Digest, MSN, Dwell and the New York Observer, this warm, welcoming, and dedicated professional puts people immediately at ease, and helps break down the real estate process into easy, manageable steps. Heidi has lived all over the city, and therefore understands the unique diversities inherent in the Denver market.

Fun Facts About Me

I have a restless soul. Having lived, worked and traveled in over 120 countries, one of my great passions in life is travel. Experiencing other cultures, meeting new people, seeing the beauty (and sometimes ugliness) of the world has helped me understand that all of our lives are interconnected, yet very individual.

My favorite destination?

There’s too many to list but here’s just a few of my recent favorties- scuba diving IN pods humpback whales in the Kingdom of Tonga, riding on horesback 150 miles across the Serengeti, watching the Northern Lights dance across the sky in Norway, peddling across Bogota on a crazy bicycle tour of Columbia, spending New Years in Dubai or in Rio or watching 1999 roll into the year 2000 in Sydney. I loved traveling 200 miles north of the Artic Circle to spend a night at the Ice Hotel in far north Sweden, riding cross country on a motorcycle in Cuba, taking the Trans Siberian Express from Beijing to St Petersburg, or watching the sunrise at Karnak Temple in Egypt… there are so many more!

Prior to a career in real estate, I lived and worked in a number of countries and as a result, have over 20 years of business experience in international markets such as Canada, U.S. Europe, U.K., Japan, Australia and New Zealand. I specialized in international business development by helping companies to expand into foreign markets by providing services such as market entry strategies and intercultural business communication.

Care about your reputation, it will define you. It will outlive the last quarter, how the year ended or whether or not you got the deal closed. People remember character- how you act, how you behave.

Don’t choose a brokerage firm based on money. Choose a place to work that fits personality, values and one that supports your business. Ultimately you will be more successful at a brokerage firm you love than one you hate.

Sell. Don’t apologize for it, don’t be afraid to tell prospects you want their business and you will kick ass once you’ve earned it.

Build lasting relationships by abandoning the conventional ‘me’ based thoughts. People will know you have their best interests at heart when you give them advise that benefits them more than it benefits you.

Bios typically focus on accolades, awards and achievements, yet it’s often our flops and failures that are the most vital in shaping who we are and how we do business. Here’s two that come to mind that had a profound impact on me…

In 1997, I was interviewing for a job in England and didn’t tell my current boss. When it came time for my in-person work visa interview, I called in sick from London everyday for a week. I got the job and the visa, but when I got home my boss fired me on the spot. Not my proudest moment and I certainly deserved it. Lesson learned- honesty really is the best policy (thanks Mom!).

In 2000, I was part of the senior management team taking a company public simultaneously on the London Stock Exchange and the Australian Stock Exchange. We were on an IPO road show and it was my turn to present. I might have been a little nervous and talked too fast, but I certainly didn’t expect the CEO of Barclays Bank to interrupt by belting out the chorus of “American Woman” by Lenny Kravitz. I was mortified until he explained- I didn’t take the time to slow down and listen, and as a result, it influenced his impression of me and the connection between us.

I live in a 100+ year old bungalow smack dab in the middle of Highlands. I’m blocks from Sloan’s Lake and walking or bike riding distance to LoHi or downtown. I love my neighborhood!

It’s really simple. Be clear about what matters to you most. At the end of the day, you don’t get a ‘do-over’ with your family.

I am an enthusiastic scuba diver and PADI Dive Master, I have over 1000 ocean water dives from all over the world, and am a volunteer scuba diver with UNECSO’s Humpback Whale Research Team in Kingdom of Tonga and the Great White Shark project in South Africa. Get certified! The underwater world is such a magical place! I have been hang-glider pilot, love snowboarding, am an avid runner, and kitesurfer.

My other interests (and passion) is international non-profits. I enjoy serving as board member of PEACE, an not-for-profit based in Puerto Vallarta that organizes free spay/neuter clinics for families with animals that could otherwise not afford it. I also assist with education and outreach programs for the Dian Fossy Gorilla Conversation fund in Uganda, Congo and Rwanda, a non-profit organization that dedicated to the conservation and protection of the endangered mountain gorillas. I also have been a volunteer teacher for people studying to take the U.S. Citizenship exam, and have mentored Sudanese family through the African Community Center, an organization that helps refugees flee from persecution within their own country and start a new life here in Denver.
