How Many Countries Can I Visit With a Second Passport?
A second passport isn’t valuable because of how many countries it opens. It’s valuable because of which ones.
Two families. The first has kids in school in Europe. They’re crossing borders constantly. School, family, holidays. For them, moving freely across Europe is worth a great deal.
The second is a business owner flying between the United States and China. Over and over.
For him, one route getting simpler is worth more than a list of fifty countries he’ll never visit.
Same passport. Completely different value.
I’ve traveled to more than 130 countries and lived in five. And the thing I keep learning is that access and mobility aren’t the same word.
Access is whether they let you in.
Mobility is what you can actually do once you’re there. Stay. Work. Open a bank account. Put a kid in school.
So I never ask how many countries a passport gets you into.
I ask which countries you actually need, and what you need to be able to do once you land.
